Book Reviews and Excerpts in this Issue

As usual, Wordgathering provides readers with reviews of some of the newest and most important books in disabilities literature. We are especially excited to let readers know about the publication of Stairs and Whispers: D/deaf and Disabled Poets Write Back edited by Sandra Alland, Kairani Barokka and Daniel Sluman. This anthology does for British poets what Beauty is a Verb did for poets in the United States. Another anthology first of its kind collection is Tripping the Tale Fantastic edited by Christopher Heuer, introduces writers to D/deaf writers who work in the genre of disabilities speculative fiction.

In addition to these collections, there are plenty of single author books. New poetry comes from Molly McCully Brown, Marlena Chertock and Cynthia Hogue, and prose offerings as well. Well-known disabilities writer Kenny Fries writes about his journey to Japan for disaplilies research. Shahd Alshammari gives us a biomthography about growing up with disability in the Middle East. Kelly Davio's essays recount her life experiences with myasthenia gravis.
