Interviews in this Issue

The two new interviews in this issue of Wordgathering attest to some of the important work that is being done by writers involved in disability. In the first, Sheila McMullin, poetry editor for So to Speak Journal, describes her role in mentoring middle school girls from Washington, DC in the creation and eventual publication of a novel that embodies their reaction to the Trayvon Martin shooting in Florida and the Black Lives Matter movement that grew out of it. The second interview discusses the creation and publication of the first ever anthology of UK disability poetry, Stairs and Whispers: D/deaf and Disbled Poets Write Back with the books editors Sandra Alland, Khairani Barokka, and Daniel Sluman.
