Hey There Fellow Masker
COVID-Conscious song
Content Warnings (from author/creator): Ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, reference to Ugly Laws, ableism
————————————
CHORUS:
Hey There Fellow Masker
there’s something that I wanna ask ya
I see the trauma in your eyes
I fear your answer’s the same as mine
so for this moment let’s exist side-by-side
————————————-
Hey There Fellow Masker
when’d you arrive in our episode of The Twilight Zone
looking at history, more are arriving in Act Three
Frontline and Essential credited in the opening scene
so for this moment let’s exist side-by-side
CHORUS
Hey There Fellow Masker
the mask indents on your face are attractive
in this new age of Ugly Laws with us at the wayside
your community care shines bright and strong
so for this moment let’s exist side-by-side
CHORUS
Hey There Fellow Masker
does downplayed COVID language destroy you too
how far one’s world separates ignoring ongoing risks
hearing phrases “during the” and “post-pandemic”
so for this moment let’s exist side-by-side
CHORUS
Hey There Fellow Masker
who was the first to unmask and break your heart
was it a friend, co-worker, family member, or paramour
you don’t need to answer, that’s what this song is for
so for this moment let’s exist side-by-side
