Interviews in this IssueThis issue of Wordgathering is glad to continue its tradition of interviews that give that keep readers up to date in what is going on in the field of disability poetry. We are extremely fortunate to be able to offer an interview with Laura Hershey, a pioneer disability poet and activist who passed away in November of this year. The interview presented here was one that she was in the midst of completing when she died and so provides an important last look back at her thoughts about her writing and career. The two other interviews in this issue are with Leah Maines and Barry Horton. Maines is the editor/publisher of Finishing Books Press which specializes in the publication of poetry chapbooks for beginning writers. Finishing Books has provided publication for the work of several writers who contribute to Wordgathering. Providing a contrast is the interview with Barry Horton, whose novel Gemini Rising was published this year. Horton provides insights both into his writing of the novel and to his experience in working with Publish America to put out his book. Comments about the interviews in this issue of suggestions about writers with disabilities that readers would like to see interviewed are welcome at comments@wordgathering.com. Return to Top |
