Tight Spaces

In this photo, I wanted to express parts of my experience as an autistic person. I am sat in front of my green bedroom wall in dim lighting. I am showing a side view of my white t-shirt, reddish-brown hair, white face, arms and legs. I seek comfort by holding my arms around my body. I have twisted and pressed my limbs close to my body to represent societal pressures and judgment. My brown eyes are looking directly ahead as I avoid eye contact with the viewer. In this moment, I think on the unwritten rules I’m supposed to decipher and my fear of misunderstandings. In this photo, I wanted to express parts of my experience as an autistic person. A Place of Vulnerability

In this photo, I’m wearing a plain white t-shirt while sat in front of my green bedroom wall in dim lighting. My head is raised and my reddish-brown hair is partly moved away from my face. I have my white arms slightly open. I am beginning to move my arms away from my body as I try to make space for myself as an autistic person. This perspective shows my brown eyes looking forward and reaching out. I express my vulnerability and encourage the viewer to feel it too.
