Dancing Hands: A Declaration of Autistic Love

(listen to the poem, read by Diane R. Wiener)

but your fingers trot and flutter-waltz
they itch in their seat when they spot a new partner

they flirt and prance with little taps
and I’m honored
when they choose my skin as their floor
for a lyrical piece with freckle props

(listen to the poem, read by Diane R. Wiener)

with such a large tale
I flip my pillow over and over
until it bursts
and the feathers get caught in my teeth
