Emerson Couch

Different Realms

Artist’s Statement: This work of art delves into the idea of transporting a reader into different worlds, with different creatures and stories. It tells the story of a girl escaping her life and diving into the words on the page of her book.

This art piece depicts a young girl reading with her hand to her face, immersed in the story. There is a sheet of rain behind her, in front of all of the other characters. This is to symbolize that while the characters seem real, they are in a different realm. The rain creates this affect. The other characters consist of a fairy, a gnome, a dragon, and two bandaged hands.
