You, who have gone
finding for gods,
here's one for you,
some yet unbroken god
found burrowing itself
in a medical report,
unnamed and clawed
it will tear the insides
of your mouth to shreds,
for you to know it
by your blood
on its claws,
which are white
like bone.
Like teeth. Like your teeth.
Have you known
a god to have your
own eyes? No other
god has lived with you
the way this god
lives with you,
no other god makes you
into a house the way
this god who lives
with you does –
are you home? For
your god is making your body
into a house of light.
Light that seizes your body taut.
